HP TouchSmart IQ504
$1,300.00
Released June, 2008
The Pros:The screen, which in Windows is to say the Desktop, is big enough if you've previously felt cramped in your Desktop. Re-imaging is an easy task from a reserved area of the hard drive, even if you've forgotten to run the DVD creator utility (which you should always do with today's new computers).
The Cons:HP runs many processes, at the root level, which the user cannot control, many of which pre-emptively want Web access and will lock the user out to get Web access. However, many of these applications can be uninstalled from the control panel, at the cost of other functionality.
The HP TouchSmart IQ504 is the base model PC in the HP TouchSmart IQ500 Series, which is a line of "all-in-one" desktop PCs that feature an HD widescreen 22" touchscreen. Unlike upper models, the IQ504 does not have a built in TV tuner.

John Dodrill:
#hp_touchsmart_iq504 With a 64-bit Operating system (Windows), 4 GB and a 2.00 GHz Core2 DUO CPU, I was expecting much faster performance than I'm seeing with basic Windows utilities and Microsoft Office 2007.
